Rouxmia and Wynand, just the most perfectly paired soulmates I know! Balancing each other perfectly, these two beautiful people recently tied the knot in the most intimate and exquisite wedding with literally their immediate family and three of their closest friends. I was lucky enough to be one of those three friends as this beautiful bride is also my closest friend! It’s not everyday that I get to be Maid of Honour as well as wedding photographer, so this really was a special wedding for me! The setting for this beautiful weekend elopement was the stunning ‘Tide & Thyme’ beach house on the beach in picturesque Yzerfontein, a few hours drive from Cape Town. Saying their ‘I do’s’ on a dune infront of the house overlooking the sea, made for the perfect ceremony spot. Rouxmia and Wynand’s love story goes right back to when they first met when they were only five years old in playschool! Years later they went on a date and the rest was history. I have been lucky enough to capture their love story from 2016 and have photographed their first couple shoot, their engagement shoot and now most recently their perfect wedding weekend, and what an absolute honour it has been! Right from the start even prior to Covid hitting the world, they both knew they wanted their wedding to be only their very closest people and planned it perfectly in order to be able to spend quality time with each one of their guests. Total quality over quantity the wedding was exactly what they had both dreamed of! We all had the pleasure of staying for the weekend in the beach house and started the celebrations on the Friday evening with a lovely, relaxed rehearsal dinner and drinks around the pool and beach. On the morning of the wedding four schools of dolphins showed off in the waves while we got ready, and set the mood for their special day! Blessed with the perfect scenery and weather, Rouxmia and Wynand couldn’t have asked for a better day to celebrate their love for one another. After the ceremony we headed down to the beach for the couple shoot which is always one of my favourite parts of the day to capture! Ending off the day with the most delicious food by the private cheffing company ‘The Kitchen Collective’ we were treated to a fine dining experience like no other! Speeches were said around the lounge with everyone saying a few special words to the couple before cutting of the cake and their first dance. I have written a longer than usual post about this wedding because as a photographer as well as a guest I can honestly say that having an intimate wedding like this should really be the way forward. Your day is about you and those you love and especially given the times we are now in every bride and groom should consider something as amazing as this! Lastly I have to thank my incredible wingman and partner, Paul who was at my side helping shoot, top up our champagne glass, playing Ed Sheeran on the Eukulele, and keeping me calm! I am lucky to have you by my side! Rouxmia and Wynand thank you for trusting me with both of these important jobs on your special day! I look forward to capturing all the special moments throughout your happy life together!
